Program: Rita Duncan will do a presentation on Joseph Bailly (1774-1835): French fur trapper of Northwest Indiana. Rita Duncan, historical genealogical researcher for the Native American Nations of the Great Lakes Region will present a historical view of the lives of Native-American families of metis origin. Presenting a historical view of the Joseph Bailly homestead located within the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. The presentation will include his fur trading records, birth records, marriage records, family and homestead pictures, land records, school records, treaties and much more. This will be the first time these records have been presented for public view. These records will give us an idea of life in Indiana from 1820 to 1835 of French-Canadian and Native-American family life.
