Greetings!
We are planning on Saturday, September 7th for our KVHS annual picnic. I talked to Jim Lambert yesterday and he doesn’t see any problem with doing the horse drawn wagon ride again. As the details of the picnic are worked out we’ll pass then along.
At noon Tuesday, June 4th, Gary Overymer is giving a talk about KVHS at the Kouts Chamber of Commerce meeting. It’s open to the public and held at Berky’s restaurant across from the hardware store in downtown Kouts.
Now for the next bit of exciting news. Last week Mike McDowell from Indiana Ghost Trackers called me. Jean Oehlman, our Pleasant Township Trustee, told him about the Collier Lodge and its story and he asked if his group could do a ghost hunt at the lodge site. The KVHS officers approved the idea and even joined in. We met at Mary and my future home site on 1050 South and after being told the history of the Baum’s Bridge area and Collier lodge we went to the building site and began the hunt. There were close to thirty members of Ghost Trackers and five KVHS members. Many of the people began taking pictures around the building and Mike set up other equipment that they brought. Mike hasn’t gotten back to me yet on the results of the infer red or sound recorders, but many got “orbs” on their camera’s, including Mary. I’m attaching a couple of the pic that she got activity on. Ghost Trackers also had temperature devices and I saw that there some spots that jumped to as cold as forty degrees. It was a fairly warm evening, in the mid 70's at that time. I’m skeptical of the whole existence of ghost’s mystery, but most culture’s have spirit story’s and I try to keep an open mind. Besides that, I like most love a good ghost story. I must admit after seeing the pic and temperature jumps I’m a wee bit less skeptical than before. Ghost Trackers were very, very excited by what they got and asked if they could return at some future time. Even Mike told me that there were a few spots that gave him the “creeps” and that doesn’t happen to him very often anymore. Another step in this Kankakee River discovery adventure we’re on. I had a great time and I think everyone else did, too. I’ll pass the results on when Mike sends them to me.
